Landscapes

Duquesne University, Pittsburgh

I liked this photo for the linear perspective of the fountain and the vivid and varying colors throughout the photo.  I also think this is one of the most picturesque and beautiful places around the city.

Overlooking the Liberty Bridge, Pittsburgh

I selected this photo for the stark contrast of the lust greenery against the industrious background.  The ivy overgrowing the iron fence gives the impression of a fresh vitality to an old steel town.

Overlooking the Monongahela River, Pittsburgh

I selected this photo for the visual interest that the bridge creates; spanning the river below, the eye follows the yellow bridge across the river to the opposing shoreline and allows the viewer to take in more of the captured scenery.  Although the sky came out over-exposed, my eye is personally drawn down to the river and the city and not so much the bland sky.

Miscellaneous...
 North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania

I particularly like the way the sun is coming through the branches of the tree.  Although the sky is a little light and may be slightly over-exposed, this is one of my all-time favorite landscapes.

The Good, The Bad...

The Good: Shot on the Vivid Color setting
I like the color and clarity/sharpness of this photo.  The green vine gives the image depth and visual interest, and the silent interaction between the figurines is intriguing.

The Bad: Shot with the Shutter Speed 3"
The shutter speed was too long for this outdoor shot, absorbing too much light and causing the photo to appear over-exposed.  The long shutter speed washes out the colors and interferes with the feel of the photo.
The Edited: Originally the Vivid Color photo (seen above)
Using Adobe Lightroom, I changed the white balance to auto, changed the crop ratio to 4x6, and increased the black to +6.  I feel that these alterations improved the image by focusing more on the figurines and gave the color a little more saturation.

Lago di Ledro

Lake Ledro, Italy
Photo taken by: Ivan Stanishev

While I was in Italy this past June, I visited Lake Ledro only briefly, but it was the most beautiful place I have ever been.

Pittsburgh

City of Pittsburgh
View from Mount Washington

I choose a picture of the City of Pittsburgh because I am a very proud Pittsburgh native.
